RETREADS

Ecologically Responsible.
Economically Genius.
For most fleets, tires represent the second largest item in their operating budget, right after fuel costs. The lowest cost-per-mile is achieved with a good tire management program that includes the use of high quality retreaded tires. Not only is the cost of rereading as little as half the price of purchasing a new tire, but it's one of the most environmentally-friendly industries in the world and the sustainability benefits are hard to beat. Retreading is good business, period.
NOT YOUR FATHER'S RETREAD
Advances in materials and manufacturing methods have made retreads safer, more reliable and better performing than ever before, rivaling new tire quality. But not all retreads are created equal -- our state-of-the-art, multi-step process ensures the highest quality retread you can buy. Here’s a glance at how we do it:
1. Inspection
Our trained technicians perform a comprehensive hands-on inspection of the entire casing to identify both visible and invisible injuries. In certain cases, the casing undergoes further non-destructive investigation such as x-ray and laser shearography. Only casing that meet our strict standards are accepted for retreading.
2. Buffing
This step removes the old tread surface, trues up the casing's roundness and "prepares" the surface for bonding with a new tread. Our process uses computer-automation guided by multiple sensors and casing-specific parameters to create an "undertread" with the optimal texture, profile and depth
3. Skiving & Repair
This is the tender loving care step. Injuries to the casing, like nail holes and other punctures, are repaired using the highest quality materials and industry best methods to restore the casing's integrity for a healthy next life-cycle
4. Cushion/Extrusion
Here we apply "cushion" - essentially a layer of uncured rubber - on to the textured surface of the casing, which serves as the bonding layer between the casing and new tread
5. Building
This is where the magic happens. Precured tread, selected from our huge inventory of tread designs and sizes, is carefully applied to the casing for a precise fit.
6. Enveloping & Curing
First, the fully assembled retread is wrapped in a hermetically sealed envelope and a vaccum is drawn, subjecting it to uniform pressure. The unit is then cured in an autoclave using a proprietary recipe of time, temperature and pressure, which permanently secures the new tread to the bonding layer.
7. Final Inspection
The process is bookended with a detailed inspection of the retread - from bead to bead, inside and out - to ensure the finished product and all repairs meet our strict quality standards and our customers' high expectations.
